Mark Mckenna is the Director of Projects at Crichton Carbon Centre. Mark graduated from Napier University with a degree in Architectural Technology. During his studies Mark centred his interests on sustainable materials/construction, namely through timber use. He received a joint award for his participation in a design team led by Napier University to work with the Grampian Woodlands Trust & James Jones Ltd. The sole aim of the project was to promote the use of Scottish timber as a construction material.
After finishing his degree, Mark completed graduate studies in Construction Project Management & Design at Central Washington University before joining the private sector at an Ecological Architects Practice.
Here Mark worked as an Architectural Technologist on a broad range of conservation, adaptation and New Build projects from conception to completion. In addition he became a RIAS approved certifier of design under Energy Section 6 of the SBSA regulations.
As Project Manager/Lecturer, Mark's major responsibility is to design & deliver a new MSc course in Sustainable Buildings and to assist with the delivery of the exisiting Sustainable Energy Technologies course. Mark is also the project director for the CSmart Organisations project and the Carbon Schools project, responsible for overseeing their running and delivery.
