Schools Project - reducing emissions in D&G schools
Carbon Heroes (2010 and 2011) - In 2010 we ran a 2-day Carbon Heroes Summer School, where kids from accross Dumfries & Galloway joined us at Mersehead RSPB Reserve to learn about Climate Change. The event received excellent feedback and as a result we are repeating the Summer School this year. Book your place now!
School Project 1 (2008-2009)- Between August 2008 to June 2009, CCC worked with 4 schools in Dumfries & Galloway to help them calculate and reduce their carbon footprints. The pupil- led project saw each of the 4 schools implement an Emission Reduction Action Plan and achieve carbon reduction savings of 15%.
School Project 2 (2009-2010)- A second round of the schools project has now started (August 2009 to June 2010). This project will see 8 more schools from Dumfries & Galloway undertake action plans to reduce their carbon emissions by 15% over the school year.

Carbon Organisations - overcoming the barriers to reducing emissions
Carbon Opportunities- In 2008 the CCC team worked with 55 small and medium enterprises in Dumfries & Galloway to help them lower their carbon footprint and address their energy issues. The project aimed to help the businesses develop carbon management strategies in order to reduce their carbon footprints. The programme was designed to be sufficiently flexible to allow organisations to participate in a manner that was relevant to their size and complexity.
Carbon Organisations- After the success of Carbon Opportunities, CCC applied for further funding to continue their work with local organisations. Carbon Organisations aims to help a wide range of organisations to overcome the barriers to reducing their carbon footprint and to ensure that at the end of the process they have the confidence and capabilities to continue their good work. The scope of the new project allows us to continue working with some of our earlier clients and also to extend our assistance to a range of non-business organisations.
Briefing Notes- As part of the Carbon Organisations project, we are in the process of developing a helpful series of briefing notes on various topics relating to carbon reduction in organisations. This series of Briefing Notes is designed for readers who are not "carbon professionals" but who still wish to gain a working knowledge of the practical ways in which carbon influences our activities.

Galloway Carbon Action Project (GCAP)
GCAP- Three rural communities in Dumfries and Galloway are coming together to take action on managing their carbon emissions with assistance and training from CCC. The three Galloway communities, Dalbeattie, Gatehouse of Fleet and Creetown, are aiming to reduce their carbon emissions by at least 22% within the year (by March 2011).

Ladyfield Project - developing a 'sustainable community'
The Ladyfield project will involve close collaboration with local government and community representatives. It will demonstrate how a truly sustainable urban development provides improved quality of life, lower carbon emissions, and a sense of harmony with the surrounding environment.
